Why people stay in Greenbrier

Greenbrier is Springfield's cheaper cousin off exit 108 on I-65. It's a stripe of gas stations, chain fast food, and a few honest restaurants along US-41, with residential neighborhoods behind. There's no downtown to speak of — the closest thing is the intersection of TN-11 and US-41, which has a Sonic, a bank, and El Rio. What Greenbrier offers is fifteen minutes to Springfield's square, twenty-five to Nashville, and beds regularly under $85.

This is a base for people who care about the drive, not the walk. Families visiting Opryland or the theme parks up north often stay here to save $50 a night versus Nashville. Skip it if you want anything resembling atmosphere — the town is functional, not charming. But the interstate access is genuinely excellent and the Waffle House at exit 108 is 24 hours.

Two chain hotels at exit 108 (I-65 and TN-11) run $75-$110 depending on the night, both reliable, both with breakfast. A third older motel a mile east on US-41 runs $60-$75 and is fine if you’re not picky. Book directly with the chains — the rate is usually within $5 of third-party sites and cancellation terms are better. Avoid the far-east end of US-41 past the industrial park; nothing wrong with it, just a longer drive to anywhere you’d actually want to be.

Getting around Greenbrier

Part of

Exit 108 off I-65 is the whole point. From Nashville International (BNA) it's 30 minutes north; from downtown Nashville, 25 minutes. Downtown Springfield is 10 minutes north on US-41 or via TN-11. No transit — you need a car. Traffic on US-41 through town backs up 4:30-5:30pm on weekdays because of the plant shifts; time your arrivals accordingly.

Marginally — it's five to ten minutes closer to Nashville and interstate access is easier. But downtown Springfield has actual restaurants and character. If you’re spending all day in Nashville and just sleeping, Greenbrier wins on price and drive time.

What's open late in Greenbrier?

Waffle House 24 hours, Sonic until midnight most nights, and the gas stations at exit 108. That's it. For anything else, drive to Nashville or wait until morning.
