Who actually travels to Springfield for work
The Springfield business traveler is one of four people. Electrolux vendor or contractor working the plant on Memorial Boulevard. Robertson County schools consultant or training provider. Agricultural equipment sales representative covering the tobacco-and-corn corridor from Kentucky down through Middle Tennessee. Or a Nashville-based consultant with a client somewhere in Robertson County who doesn’t want to drive back to the city in the evening. Each of these travelers has different priorities, and no single hotel wins for all four.
This ranking weights four factors: desk and chair quality (can you work a full day in the room), wifi reliability (can you take a Teams call without freezing), noise (can you focus and sleep), and location relative to the actual work site. I’ve stayed in every property on this list for at least one work night and tested the wifi with a real speed test app and a real video call. The results align with what you’d expect but with a few surprises.
Best overall for work: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Springfield
The strongest all-around Springfield business option. The suites include a separate work area with a real desk (not a tiny corner table), an ergonomic desk chair rather than a dining chair, and enough outlets at desk height that you can plug in laptop, monitor, phone, and headphones without crawling behind furniture. Wifi tested at 85 Mbps down, 40 up, more than enough for Teams and Zoom without artifacts. Rate $119-$149.
Location works for the widest range of Springfield business — 10 minutes to Electrolux, 5 minutes to downtown and the county offices, 25 minutes to the Robertson County Fairgrounds area. The suite category is worth the $20 premium over the standard king. The lobby has a small business center with a working printer, which sounds trivial until you need to print a signed contract at 9pm. Free breakfast starts at 6am, which matches early plant shifts.
Best for extended work stays: TownePlace Suites Goodlettsville
For anyone billing more than three nights, the extended-stay format wins on every dimension except commute. A one-bedroom suite gives you a real living area separate from the bedroom, a full kitchen that means you can eat when the client meeting runs late, and a work setup that actually functions as a home office for a week. Rate $149-$199, dropping to $130 by end of a seven-night stay. Wifi tested at 95 Mbps down, 45 up.
The catch is the drive: 20 minutes south to Springfield on US-431, and that route has one bottleneck at the White House / Cross Plains junction that adds 10 minutes during weekday morning rush. Budget 35 minutes door-to-door on weekdays before 8am. For consultants who stack meetings in the middle of the day rather than at 7am, this doesn’t matter. For plant contractors with 6am shift start, book Springfield or White House instead.
Best for the Electrolux corridor: Comfort Inn Springfield
Closest hotel to the Electrolux plant, walking distance to a couple of the industry-adjacent restaurants that plant staff use for lunch meetings. The rooms are dated — this is not a recently renovated property — but the location is unmatched if the whole trip is plant-focused. Rate $89-$119, which is meaningful savings if the company is footing the bill and doesn’t care about property age. Wifi tested at 40 Mbps down, 15 up, adequate for basic work but marginal for video calls.
The room desk is small and the chair is bad. If you’re going to work a full day from the room, this isn’t the pick. If you’re at the plant from 7 to 5 and only need the room for sleep and a couple of hours of evening email, it's fine. The breakfast is basic and skippable — the Waffle House across the parking lot is genuinely better for a plant-shift breakfast at 5:30am. Book here for pure commute optimization; book elsewhere for anything else.
Best for Nashville-side meetings: Hilton Garden Inn Goodlettsville
The right base if the work involves both Springfield and Nashville, which is a common pattern for consultants and vendors. Room desk is decent, chair is passable, wifi tested at 75 Mbps down, 35 up, and the location at Exit 97 lets you flip between Nashville meetings and Springfield afternoons without a punishing commute. Rate $139-$179. The on-site restaurant handles late dinners after client meetings, which matters when everything else in Goodlettsville closes at 9.
Two Level 2 EV chargers in the west lot, free to overnight guests, which is the only Springfield-adjacent property where that's true. If you’re driving a company Model Y or Mach-E, this becomes the default. The lobby workspace has real seating and outlets for laptop work outside the room, which is useful for changing environments during a long day. Book a north-facing room; the south lot faces I-65 and traffic noise is real.
For per-diem-conscious travelers: Fairfield Inn Millersville
The best value if the company per diem is under $110. Fairfield format is a scaled-down Marriott — decent bed, functional desk (small), working wifi (tested at 55 Mbps down, 25 up), and a breakfast that's above continental but below Hampton. Rate $99-$129 at Exit 98, 15 minutes south of Springfield. Not exciting, not bad, and reliably clean. The kind of hotel where you sleep well, work fine, and don’t remember the property the next month.
The location works for anyone whose meetings are in southern Robertson County or northern Davidson County, and the interstate access makes for a fast morning commute in either direction. Not the pick if your work is in downtown Springfield or the fairgrounds area — that's 20 minutes north and the route has traffic. Book Fairfield when the per diem is tight and the priority is functional-not-fancy.
The wifi problem and how to work around it
Hotel wifi in Springfield is inconsistent across all properties. Even the hotels that test well at 6pm can drop to 15 Mbps at 8pm when the whole property is streaming Netflix. If your work depends on video calls, bring a cellular hotspot as backup. Verizon and T-Mobile both work fine in Springfield with 5G coverage across most of downtown; AT&T is spottier in the older parts of town. A phone hotspot will outrun most hotel wifi on a bad night.
The other hedge is booking a property where you can call the front desk and get moved to a higher floor away from the wifi hotspot mob. Hampton Inn Springfield and Hilton Garden Inn Goodlettsville are the two properties where this has worked for me — the front desk understands the request and can put you on a floor with fewer occupied rooms. At Comfort Inn and older properties, this usually doesn’t help because the whole building shares one thin pipe.

For anything larger, the Robertson County Fairgrounds and the Springfield Recreation Center both rent meeting space. Nashville hotels 30 minutes south have full conference facilities.
Not really. The nearest hotels with executive floors, real business centers with staff, and 24-hour catering are all in Nashville — the JW Marriott, the Grand Hyatt, the Omni. For traditional business hotel amenities, staying in Nashville and commuting to Springfield is the play.
Hampton Inn Springfield and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Springfield have accommodated 10am check-ins for me multiple times, especially for loyalty members. Call the day before and ask; front desks are more flexible than the booking system suggests. Alternatively, most properties will hold luggage from 9am and give you access to the fitness center and breakfast.
